I love the way you have depicted three different green rooftops: one kind of manicured with patio furniture and the other two a little wilder with mature trees. Building so close to a water source such as a lake or river poses urban design challenges dealing with storm water runoff. Add being at the bottom of a big hill to the mix and the challenge is magnified. Green roofs and green walls are one tool to to provide a space to soak up extra water before it gets to the sewer system. Plus it seems like an up and coming green technology that Burlington has been slow to embrace. Since the South End is the innovative enterprise zone, showcasing a few of these could be a springboard for a whole new job creation industry here in our great green state of Vermont.
